Window Shopping: Urban Outfitters Home Edition

Shop here.
Hey everyone!

As a college student with limited funds, I love online window shopping. It almost feels like real shopping, and creating these posts almost feels like I made a purchase. Almost. I love visiting Urban Outfitters (online & in-store) because it gives me a lot of inspiration. Though I rarely buy anything (they's a little pricey 😬), I am well-versed in their merchandise. Today, I went through their online home department, and pulled a few things that stuck out to me. You might notice that quite a few of the items here are books. I have been really trying to get back into reading. I used to do it all the time, and for years, I've been struggling to get back into that grove. So, take a look around, and let me know where you've been window shopping lately. For links to these products, check out this Pinterest board

Blue T-shirt Days

Blue t-shirt ripped jeans

Blue t-shirt ripped jeans

This past week was incredibly busy. Between class, work & my personal (lol) life, I was running around like a chicken with its head cut off. When everything came to a head on Thursday, I really wanted a no-fuss outfit to conquer the day with. If you have been reading this blog for a little while, then you know I love a good t-shirt. I always gravitate to some from of a casual t-shirt and jean combo.

the importance of the pity party

the importance of the pity party

When I was little, someone disappointed me, and I tried to act like I didn’t care. It was my birthday, and I thought it would be silly to let someone else ruin the joy I had. However, by the end of the night, it was hard to ignore that I was upset, and I cried. It was a good cry, and since then, I’ve always appreciated it.

Denim, Velour & More: My Favorite Pieces from Daya x Zendaya

If you know me well, then you know how much I love Zendaya. I can't say it was her acting that drew me in as I was already out of my Disney Channel phase by the time her shows premiered. Today, I'm proud to be a fan as she repeatedly proves that she is a powerful, Black woman who will not idly stand by while inequality and oppression exist. However, what initially caught my eye was her amazing style and her ability to transform into a different persona at every event. As someone who enjoys a good switch-up, I'm always impatiently waiting to see what Zendaya will do (or wear) next.

Aside from her red carpet and editorial style, Zendaya's casual looks are also amazing. She has such an effortless, athleisure look that has a certain edge. Recently, Zendaya released her own fashion line, so fans can now pick pieces designed by the queen herself for an affordable price. In today's post, I'm pulling my favorite pieces from the line, Daya by Zendaya, and showing them to you all. The line is full of comfortable, edgy pieces that look like they could come straight Zendaya's closet, so I'm excited to explore!

9 Essential Makeup Brushes You Need in your Kit

Click the graphic below to see it more clearly!

Hey everyone!

Today, I'm showing you what I consider to be 9 must-have makeup brushes. Keep in mind, a lot of this is about comfort, and a lot of different factors come into play. For me, I like a certain set of brushes that work with my hand size, face curves, and other features. Play around with different brush types to see what works for you. All of these brushes are the exact ones I use everyday, and they are found in three different brush sets you can find here. Personally, I would worry less about getting the exact brush and just try to match the shape and function. Of course, quality will affect your work, but you should definitely be able to get by with more affordable brush options.

When Others Doubt

I often tell my friends that I have no fear for the future. I never mean to sound arrogant or overly confident in my ability, and I don’t doubt that I will find myself in difficult situations throughout my life. The light at the end of the tunnel just burns brightly, and I have no trouble seeing it.

My faith plays a large part in my outlook. My favorite Bible verse, Joshua 1:9, says, “Have I not commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”  I think of it whenever I’m running low on money, when I am having a hard time in a course, or when I’m just outright confused on where I should be in my life. It isn’t hard for me to believe, either. Even when I feel at odds with Christians, I can trust that God is with me and directing my path. Why? Because He’s made it evident time and time again. I’ve spent most of my life in a low-income, single parent household, and I’m at Georgetown University, on my way to more success and happiness than I can even fathom. I know that there must be a reason that God stays in my corner, pulling me out of unpleasant situations., and that he is preparing me for whatever plan He has for my life. Even if I someday find myself in a dark, cold apartment eating instant noodles and watching a black and white battery-powered television, I know that it will only be for a season, and I can be brought out of it because it’s happened before, and here I am.
