Hi everyone!
As I’ve said before, I love back to school season. I can’t wait to start classes again in my own organized space and get back into my academic groove. However, there are a couple of things that come with the beginning of a new school year that I am not ready for. One of those things is having early mornings.
Naturally, I wake up around 6:30-7:00 am each morning. In the summer or during breaks, I can get myself back to sleep, but during the school year, I usually have ten or so minutes before my alarm goes off. Then, it’s go time. Even though my body is awake, my mind is nowhere near that state, so I’m dragging all morning before I look at the clock and realize I’m almost late. I absolutely hate being late, so I’ve had to learn a few tricks to keep myself efficient when I’d rather be dreaming.
1. Plan your outfit the night before.
This basic morning hack has gotten me through mornings for the past three years. When I plan out and set aside my outfit (even down to the underwear), it literally takes me five minutes to get dressed. It’s even easier since I shower at night, and get into my clothes while I’m half awake. Make sure you check the weather forecast, so you don't end up ankle deep in rain or swimming in your own pool of sweat on an unusually warm day.
2. Set aside the makeup you wear everyday.
As you might have guessed, my makeup collection is excessive. If I had to dig through it each morning to find my basic products, I’d be lucky to have my left eyebrow drawn on. So, I found myself a nice tray to keep on my desk that serves as a home for my everyday foundation, powder, eyeshadows, and the other products I use on normal occasions.
3. Pack your school bag the night before.
There are few things worse than arriving late to a class and realizing you brought the wrong book. Of course, if you take five minutes each night, that wouldn’t even be an issue. If you want to be on my level of extra, get a separate backpack for your MWF classes and one for you TTh classes, so you can just grab the books you need without ever packing a bag.
4. Learn quick routes to your classes.
If you’re a student constantly running late, then you probably know how to get across campus in 5.28 minutes, and if you aren’t, you better learn these routes quick. Honestly, I’m starting to wonder just how far I can push the limit before I’m actually tardy.
5. Make a morning playlist.
I love playlists. I listen to the pre-made ones on Spotify, but I also like making my own. I tend to move a little quicker if the music in the background is fast paced or has more of a beat. Be careful, though; you might find yourself twerking in your mirror while you classmates are half asleep in your 8 am without you.
So, those are my tips! They’re just the few I’ve relied on for years, but any quick search on Pinterest or Google could probably bring you thousands of results. If you have any morning life hacks you want to share, I want to hear them! Share them on my Facebook page, so all my readers can make their mornings a little quicker with your help.
See you soon!
